Health Requirements
-
A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within 30 days of the last day of the show is required for ALL animals entering and is required to check in. Alpacas must show no evidence of infectious or contagious disease - any animal showing evidence of disease will be asked to leave immediately.
-
Health papers are required upon arrival and before exhibitor receives show packet.
-
All alpacas must be officially and individually identified on the health certificate by alpaca name and microchip.
-
A veterinarian will be available Friday night during check-in and throughout the show if services are needed. Breeders will be billed directly for any services performed and such services are the sole responsibility of the individual breeder.
-
BVD: In response to increased concern over recent diagnosed cases of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) within the U.S. alpaca community, all alpacas arriving at the show must be tested for the presence of an active BVDV infection. Testing is being required to prevent any Persistently Infected (PI) alpacas from entering the facility and being an infective risk to other alpacas.
|
Documentation of a negative PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) or VI (Virus Isolation) BVDV test is required before alpacas can be offloaded at the Bureau County Fairgrounds.
All alpacas entered in or present at show must be negative for BVDV by a PCR or VI (If VI prior to 1/1/2010) lab test and said negative results shall be indicated on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI)- Health Papers with the date of test, the lab that performed the test and the testing method. Bring a copy of your CVI for your Show Superintendent, as they are required to keep a copy. All alpacas entering the grounds must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within 30 days of the last day of the event and this certificate must have the alpaca's name and matching microchip number.
